Fall Wine Festival

The Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival runs every year from September to October with wine and food related events taking place throughout the province.

The festival promotes Nova Scotia’s amazing wines and wineries, celebrates the harvest season, and provides consumers with a month of entertaining wine and food events.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately the Harvest Fest at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 3 has been CANCELLED.

Saturday, September 19

Garlic Fest at Avondale Sky Winery

This is once again a great reason to come to spend a day in the country! Chefs will be demonstrating their techniques while creating all things garlic. Artists from across the Maritimes will fill 60 tents with fabulous juried art. Great food will be available all day. Wonderful music will provide the soundtrack to this great new event. And, don’t miss the Recipe Contest where the winner will take home a cash prize!

Stroll through the vineyard to find a great assortment of the specialty and one-of-a-kind items in one location! Talk to artisans about their craft. Talk with growers to learn more about growing garlic. Talk to chefs to discover new cooking techniques. Shop and Eat and Drink and Enjoy all things Garlic and more!

Oyster Fest at Planters Ridge

Presented by Planters Ridge and Bulwark Cider. Join us for a shucking good time. Participate in educational winery tours at 1 and 3pm. Learn about the winemaking process, cider making process, and how to properly shuck an oyster (without losing a finger).

Nova Scotia Open Farm Day at Sainte-Famille Wines

Sainte-Famille is proud to be participating in Nova Scotia’s Open Farm Day. Tours will be starting at 10am, and continue every hour until 3pm. Lunch will be served from 11am – 2pm, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available as well, all served in our beautiful pavilion.

Nova Scotia Wine Education Session at Gaspereau Vineyards

October Theme – Sweet Sensations. An overview of dessert-styled wines, including Icewine and fortified wines, and how to pair them with various desserts. This session is guaranteed to please anyone with a sweet tooth.

Le Caveau Restaurant will host their annual Wines of Nova Scotia Dinner. Multi-course dinner paired with Nova Scotia wines from several wineries.

Our most popular day trip that is great for wine lovers and “foodies”! The tour includes tours and wine tastings at 3 award winning wineries beginning with a “grape to bottle” tour at Blomidon Estate Winery. Plus, enjoy a special two course gourmet lunch at Restaurant Le Caveau!

You’ll also visit Fox Hill Cheese House, as well as enchanting Tangled Garden where herbs and fruit are transformed into mouth-watering jams and jellies (and much more) to enhance any meal!

7th Annual Perfect Pairings Progressive Dinner and Wine Tour

October 3 and 10

This is the only tour of its kind in North America! Enjoy an exclusive wine tour as well as a fantastic dinner with each course at a different winery!

We’ll begin at Blomidon Estate Winery for the appetizer course paired with a glass of Blomidon’s stellar wine. Then we’ll wander out to the vineyard for a tour and talk about grape growing before going back to the wine shop for a wine tasting. Then we’ll visit our newest winery, Planters Ridge, for an in-depth cellar tour, learning how wine is made before a wine tasting in the gorgeous barrel room. Then it’s time for the delicious main course paired with wines from Planters Ridge. The evening finishes at Grand Pre Wines for a final wine tasting and watching the sun set over the winery as you enjoy a decadent dessert! This year’s theme is “East Coast Kitchen Party” featuring our fabulous Nova Scotia seafood of course prepared by fantastic Chef Kerina Dykstra of Let’s Eat Personal Chef Services!

Make it a gourmet day! Learn how to cook like a chef while enjoying wine on this imaginative wine tour!! Uncork Nova Scotia and The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery bring you a truly unique culinary experience! The tour begins with a 2 hour Cookery Class with Chef Chris Velden followed by lunch featuring the freshest local ingredients of  the season paired with a glass of specially selected Nova Scotia wine. The tour continues with visits to Avondale Sky and Sainte Famille wineries for private tours and wine tastings!

Class theme and lunch menu – All about Apples ~ Apple, Celery and Walnut Salad with a Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing, Apple and Bacon Stuffed Pork loin with a Leek and Potato Gratin, Apple Tart with Cinnamon and Whip Cream.

Oktoberfest Tour

Celebrate Oktoberfest here in Nova Scotia and raise a glass with our wines and beers! Start at Sainte Famille Wines for a wine tasting featuring some of their German styled wines such as Seigfreid and Geisenhiem 318. Then it’s onto Grand Pré Wines for a delicious two course German-inspired gourmet lunch and then enjoy a tour of the vineyard and a wine tasting. Finally we stop at the Port Pub for a Taster’s Tray of Sea Level ales featuring their seasonal Oktoberfest inspired beers!
