Owners Barbara Thomson and Sean Sears love the lifestyle of wine, the challenge of farming grapes and the fine points of understanding wine character. Petite Rivière Vineyards’ South Shore terroir is dominated by the rocky soil of its Drumlin Hills, providing its wines with a distinct structure, fruit intensity and minerality. The winery hosts a variety of events and concerts throughout the year and is available for private events and weddings.

Petite Riviere Winemaker

Meet the Winemaker

Christian Perlat is from a 200-year old family winery in Burgundy, France and has made wine in numerous French and Canadian houses. He has great instincts when making his wines and a deep understanding of the vines to attain optimal ripeness for winemaking. He uses traditional old-world viticulture and winemaking methods with a special emphasis on the health aspects of wine. He loves how Nova Scotia winemakers are producing a diversity of grape varieties and styles of wine because it means there is something for everyone.

Add @grandpre 's Riesling to your Nova Scotia Wine Add @grandpre 's Riesling to your Nova Scotia Wine Wish List🥂

There are few varieties that reflect the terroir better than Riesling. This medium-sweet white wine exhibits intense pear and citrus fruit aromas such as Bergamot Orange and Lime. Riesling's naturally high acidity and pronounced fruit flavours also lend this great wine potential to age gracefully.

Riesling is a versatile wine and can be paired with white fish or pork and a wide selection of different cheeses. Because of its pronounced sugar-acid balance, it can also stand up to spicy Asian dishes.

Bruce started his career at Peller Estates in British Columbia before settling in Nova Scotia.

L'Acadie Vineyards is certified organic, regenerative and vegan. Bruce's goal is to create wines with physiological ripeness every year – brown lignified seeds, acidity and ripe fruit flavours.

To help people enjoy their wines more, Bruce recommends getting to know the story behind the wines you are consuming, the soil people and practices!

Made in the 'Méthode Traditionnelle', NV Crémant is an aromatic blend of estate-grown Seyval Blanc, L'Acadie Blanc, and Chardonnay. Hand-harvested early in the season. Produced with a lower level of effervescence, this wine possesses a smoother, creamier bubble for a refreshing sparkling wine.

The location had been chosen for its benign microclimate, which was both warmed and cooled by the twice-a-day flushing of the Bay of Fundy tides into and out of the Annapolis Basin and upstream to Bear River.
