FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Halifax, N.S. – October 1, 2020 – Winery Association of Nova Scotia are delighted to announce that they are now Wine Growers Nova Scotia. Wine Growers Nova Scotia are farmers and represent the roots in the ground industry: the wine industry in Nova Scotia.
” We are so excited to launch this campaign and proudly announce we are Wine Growers Nova Scotia. Our industry is agricultural in nature, and uses Nova Scotia soil to produce our product, it’s difficult to imagine anything being more local than that! , ” said Gerard Adams, Chair of Wine Growers Nova Scotia.
The wine and grape industry in Nova Scotia is one we take pride in, the hard work and passion of our local vintners and farmers have helped build an industry that significantly contributes to our province. Creating good quality jobs in rural and urban Nova Scotia, our wineries and wine regions are world-class tourism destinations that ultimately contribute to a growing and diverse economy.
Today, Wine Growers Nova Scotia has kicked off an eight-week awareness campaign to educate Nova Scotians about the wine and grape industry’s value to the provincial economy. Every dollar spent on Canadian wine in Nova Scotia generates $2.64 in Gross Domestic Product. An investment in the industry contributes to the growth of Nova Scotia, as every acre of grapes planted creates one new job in the province.
The wine and grape industry in Nova Scotia has been faced with difficult circumstances these last three years. Devastating weather conditions paired with COVID-19 has had substantial effects on the industry. Now more than ever, we need the community to support us, so together, we can grow Nova Scotia, one vine at a time.

The Winery Association of Nova Scotia was formed in 2002 and works to build awareness of the Wines of Nova Scotia brand, serve as a voice for wineries, and work closely with all government levels to grow the industry and expand market opportunities for the sale of Nova Scotia wine. In 2020, the association rebranded to Wine Growers Nova Scotia to align with Wine Growers Canada and other wine regions across the country.
