Membership Criteria

Wine Growers Nova Scotia has recently established formal membership criteria to uphold  the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the farm wine industry. Adherence to WGNS’s membership criteria and code of conduct is a mandatory condition of membership in the association.  As representatives of this vital sector, members are required to:

  • Champion and advocate for the growth and success of the Nova Scotia Farm Wine industry.
  • Maintain a safe work environment free from inappropriate workplace behaviour including discrimination, harassment, bullying, and victimization.
  • Treat everyone and to be seen as treating everyone (including employees, prospective employees, contractors, consultants, industry partners, suppliers, prospective customers, and customers) with respect, fairness, integrity, and in a manner that will enhance the standing of the Nova Scotia wine industry.

WGNS has also implemented a complaint review process.. Any concerns raised are taken seriously, and we want to assure all visitors to our member wineries that we are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful experience.

When complaints are brought forward, we follow a structured approach:

Immediate Review: An immediate review will be conducted to provide an initial assessment. The outcome of this review will be communicated to the member winery and the complainant.

Member Response: Any member responding to a complaint will be given an opportunity to respond, and if indicated, to provide a remedial plan.

Progressive Correction: Any actions that violate the membership criteria may lead to disciplinary measures. Disciplinary measures may include, but are not limited to, warnings, training, suspension, or termination of membership. WGNS reserves the right to take appropriate action to protect the integrity of the farm wine industry and its members.

Wine Growers Nova Scotia values the support of the community and will work to ensure that all our members exemplify our shared values and standards. We continue to review our processes to ensure they reflect the highest standards of compliance and integrity.
