Owned by veteran food industry executive Carl Sparkes and his wife, Donna, the winery offers an idyllic atmosphere in which to dine that reflects the Sparkes’ deep understanding of and dedication to exceptional hospitality. You can enjoy the view of the vineyard from the comfort of the stately fireside lounge or from the vine-covered, open-air patio. Daily wine tastings provide the opportunity to discover how the hardy, reliable grape varieties that thrive in this coastal climate produce wines that are versatile in style, with crisp and fruit-forward characteristics. You can also enjoy seasonal vineyard tours and hikes along the vineyard trails.

Meet the Winemaker

Nova Scotia-born Gina Haverstock’s lifelong ambition to become a doctor was side-lined by a summer job at Jost Vineyards. A Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of New Brunswick, Gina took a job at Jost Vineyards in 2000 and became captivated with the world of wine. Gina returned to Jost in 2001 for a hands-on education in how wine is made. She went on to take sommelier training and also graduated with honours from Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute Program. Upon completion of her studies, Gina worked at wineries in Germany, Austria, France, and New Zealand, before returning to Nova Scotia and becoming Jost’s Head Winemaker.

Vine pruning has begun🍇 The primary goal of pr Vine pruning has begun🍇

The primary goal of pruning is to maximize the amount of one-year-old wood on each grapevine without encouraging the plant to produce so many grape clusters that it lacks the energy and nutrients to fully ripen them.
