Benjamin Bridge

Benjamin Bridge Vineyards

Nestled in the picturesque Gaspereau Valley lies the trailblazing sparkling wine producer, Benjamin Bridge. For nearly 20 years, its organic vineyards have spanned the heart of this sheltered valley, where the growing season is moderated by the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy.

The valley’s unique geography offers a microclimate perfectly suited to crafting traditional method sparklings and a specialized portfolio of stills, including Nova Scotia’s iconic wine, Nova 7. Founded in 1999 by Gerry McConnell and his late wife, Dara Gordon, who shared a passion for contributing to a sustainable rural Nova Scotia, Benjamin Bridge is considered one of Canada’s most acclaimed sparkling wine houses. Their family winery offers a range of guided experiences in its modern tasting rooms year-round, and a by-the-glass program on its wine terrace in warmer months.

Meet the Winemaker

For more than a decade, head winemaker Jean-Benoit Deslauriers has championed Benjamin Bridge’s specialized wine program. Originally from Québec, Jean- Benoit began his winemaking apprenticeship at Vinedos Organicos Emiliana, a biodynamic winery in Chile’s Colchagua Valley. He then went on to Casa Barranca, the first certified organic winery in Santa Barbara County, California. His passion and ingenuity are apparent in every bottle, including his recent feat of releasing Canada’s first canned Pétillant Naturel (a raw and living sparkling wine). While consistently achieving 90+ reviews, his sparkling wines have made top wine lists across the country and beyond – from Hawksworth Restaurant in Vancouver to Raymonds in St John’s to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants in London, UK.
