From the beginning, Lightfoot & Wolfville has been unwavering in its dedication to quality throughout the wine’s journey. The winery embraces the belief that it’s necessary to work in harmony with nature to grow vibrant wines that faithfully express their terroir. Specifically selected for their unique, coastal-influenced microclimate on the shores of the Minas Basin, Lightfoot & Wolfville focus includes traditional method sparklings, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and aromatic whites such as Riesling.

Meet the Winemaker

Josh Horton, the Head Winemaker at Light & Wolfville, is a native Nova Scotian. He grew up mere minutes from Lightfoot & Wolfville’s Oak Island Vineyard in Avonport.

Agriculture is in Josh’s blood. Growing up, he spent several summers on his grandfather’s farm, which gave him the foundation for an early career in horticulture and later viticulture.

In 2008, after nearly a decade in the landscaping industry, Josh helped the Lightfoot family plant their first vineyard. Shortly after that, with a burgeoning passion for grapes and wine, Josh completed the Winery & Viticulture Technician program at Niagara College. In 2014, Josh returned to Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards. A true farmer, meticulous viticulturist, and passionate “winegrower,” Josh believes great fruit is necessary to create fine wine.

Add @grandpre 's Riesling to your Nova Scotia Wine Add @grandpre 's Riesling to your Nova Scotia Wine Wish List🥂

There are few varieties that reflect the terroir better than Riesling. This medium-sweet white wine exhibits intense pear and citrus fruit aromas such as Bergamot Orange and Lime. Riesling's naturally high acidity and pronounced fruit flavours also lend this great wine potential to age gracefully.

Riesling is a versatile wine and can be paired with white fish or pork and a wide selection of different cheeses. Because of its pronounced sugar-acid balance, it can also stand up to spicy Asian dishes.

Made in the 'Méthode Traditionnelle', NV Crémant is an aromatic blend of estate-grown Seyval Blanc, L'Acadie Blanc, and Chardonnay. Hand-harvested early in the season. Produced with a lower level of effervescence, this wine possesses a smoother, creamier bubble for a refreshing sparkling wine.
